Our Programs

We started Inara to help ease the transition from middle to high school and help students who may be feeling isolated or unmotivated during the quarantine. Reflecting on our own experiences going from middle to high school and how this pandemic is affecting current middle schoolers, we realized how we could have used a program like this when we went to high school and how we could provide the guidance and support that current middle schoolers may not be able to find elsewhere.

There is so much more to high school than just your next homework assignment or test. High school is the time for you to prepare for college and explore your interests, but it can be hard to know how exactly to do that. There are so many opportunities available for high schoolers (clubs, leadership positions, internships, volunteering, etc.) but without help, it can be hard to find the ones that are right for you.

Through our mentorship program, middle school students will have the opportunity to receive personalized advice from current high schoolers on how to best pursue their interests as well as how to develop strong study habits, balance school and extracurriculars, and get ahead in high school.

Mentorship Program

Middle school students will be paired with high school mentors for bi-weekly (every other week) one-on-one mentoring sessions. The program will run for a three to four month period during which middle school students will have the opportunity to learn more about the high school experience and learn new skills. Meetings will be held online through Google Hangouts or Zoom and be about half an hour each.

Workshops

Over the course of the session, we will also offer a series of technical skills workshops, from public speaking to effective writing techniques, and guest speaker panel events!

Mentor of the Month: Reva Samant

She is a rising senior at Homestead High School and a fun fact about her is that she shaved all her hair off and raised about $8000 for childhood cancer research in eighth grade. We thank Reva for her consistent hard work and participation in our program!
